Community Board Queue

Community Board Queue (CBQ) is an idea for encouraging physical community bulletin boards and helping people share their flyers, cards, artwork, hobbies, projects, and local activities when posting space is limited.

Encouraging More Community Boards

Laundromats, coffee shops, libraries, community centers, and other gathering places could offer a community board. These boards give people a physical way to discover local interests and activities beyond online feeds.

Taking Turns on a Busy Board

If a board becomes popular and there are more flyers than spaces, its host could offer a simple queue on the location’s website. People could reserve a future week, month, or other posting period. When one period ends, the next reservation takes its place.

Each location would choose how many spaces are available, the duration of postings, acceptable materials, how flyers are installed, and how to give newcomers and repeat participants fair access. An offline sign-up option could help people who don’t use the internet.

Independent, Voluntary Adoption

CBQ is a proposed idea, not an operating reservation service. A location could adapt the system to its own circumstances, potentially using a simple calendar on its existing website. There is no requirement for a central network or paid participation.

This page is intended as the ongoing home for the Community Board Queue idea as it develops.
